Position Summary 

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for monitoring collections for our ~$4B portfolio across multiple legal entities and funds and accounting these transactions in our general ledger. The Staff Accountant is responsible for checking the bank accounts on a periodic basis and improving the process using system automations. They are responsible for processing monthly close journal entries, other account reconciliations and organizing monthly close documentation. 

 

Essential Responsibilities 

  • Monitoring and recording daily cash activity in Dynamics 365 across all legal entities for operations, custody, collections and other bank accounts.
  • Assist in settling and monitoring intercompany cash movements.
  • Communicate with internal groups (i.e., Funds’ Team, Revenue, Operations, Accounts Payable and Treasury) to track invoice payments.
  • Communicate with the Operations team on the preparation of the monthly wire tracking sheet updated for all cash collections across multiple funds including checking for rate reset against invoices.
  • Liaise with Operations team as needed to assist in investigating the payment discrepancies (if any), confirm interest rates, and update internal amortization schedules.
  • Prepare journal entries for upload in Dynamics 365 and submit to Seniors/Managers for approval.
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations, including organizing the supports for the balances. 
  • Perform other month end close activities including preparation of account details and responding to audit requests from external auditors as well as portfolio company audit confirms.
  • Assist in the monthly closing process for the management company registered investment adviser, working with Fund Accounting team to ensure deadlines are met timely.
  • Assist with cash application in loan system (Sentry) and other ad-hoc projects as needed.

 

Qualifications  

  • B.S. or B.A. degree required. 
  • One to two years’ experience in accounting or finance or loan operation positions. 
  • Professional or significant personal experience using Microsoft Excel to consolidate and analyze data.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a very fast paced environment, take initiative, and show accountability.
