Position Summary 

Hercules Capital, Inc. (“Hercules”) is an internally managed, publicly traded BDC, providing financing solutions to high-growth, innovative venture capital-backed and institutional-backed companies. Hercules and its wholly owned subsidiary, Hercules Adviser, manage approximately $5 billion of assets. The Fund Accountant role is important in supporting the continued growth and expansion of Hercules’ private credit funds (the “Adviser Funds”). The Fund Accountant will be involved in all aspects of fund reporting including coordinating loan administration, supporting capital activity, liquidity management, shadow NAV preparation, oversight of the 3<sup>rd</sup> party fund administrator, and assisting in the preparation of investor reporting, financial statements, and portfolio performance analytics to senior management.

 

Essential Responsibilities 

·         Support Fund Senior Manager in preparation, review, oversight and management of 3<sup>rd</sup> party fund administrator and external auditors. Key deliverables include:

o   Capital Call & Distribution communications to investors

o   Monthly & quarterly investor reporting

o   Quarterly reporting to senior management

o   Preparation of annual financial statements sent to investors

·         Lead preparation of monthly shadow NAVs and assist in review/oversight of the monthly reporting prepared by the fund administrator.

·         Monitor cash activities and assist with weekly liquidity reporting summary for each fund.

·         Assist with loan administration including collection, tracking, and review of funding and amendment documents, paydowns, and payoff activity.

·         Perform and review portfolio yield analysis by investment and calculate overall fund key performance indicators

·         Collaborate with multiple Hercules teams in tracking investment fundings, allocations, amendments, portfolio company compliance and commitment availability, and related investment funding & allocation documents.

·         Develop and enhance tracking and reporting materials for the expanding Hercules Adviser business.

 

Qualifications  

·         1-3 years in audit, finance, or accounting role with exposure to private funds required.

·         CPA (full or parts of exam passed), or advanced degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred.

·         Strong understanding of basic private fund reporting and understanding of US GAAP.

·         Professional or significant personal experience using Microsoft Excel to consolidate and analyze data.

·         Organized individual that is able to adapt to shifting and competing priorities and works well with remote teams.

·         Individual that excels in a very fast paced environment, take personal initiative to improve processes, and takes pride with personal accountability.
